Boat operators who need to replace their New York Boating Safety Certificate can order additional copies from BOATsmart!. Once you’ve placed your order, your card will arrive in the mail within 4 weeks. 

What is the fine for not having a card?

Boaters caught without a New York Boating Safety Certificate may be fined up to $250.

What are the advantages to having multiple copies?

By purchasing more than one copy of your New York Boating Safety Certificate, you can ensure that you always have back-ups available. Keep one in your wallet, one on the boat and one for safe keeping. 

What if I obtained my certificate through another course provider?

Certified operators who obtained their New York Boating Safety Certificate through a course provider other than BOATsmart! will need to contact their original course provider for a replacement. If you’re unsure which course provider issued your original card, contact the New York Department of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.
