OHMs come in a variety of styles and sizes, and are designed with different uses in mind. It’s important to know which bike best suits your riding needs before you buy. There are 3 types to consider:
These are best-known as the ‘Red Bull’ bikes. Motocross bikes are high performance machines, designed for hitting jumps and for organized racing. They’re NOT street legal and in most states, and are illegal to operate on public land. However, with enough practice and training, they can be a good time at a motocross track!
These bikes are usually bigger than a traditional motocross bike. They’re designed with heavier components, like oversized gas tanks, to be able to accommodate long distance trail riding. Not many of these bikes are street legal, although this will depend on the lighting and muffler system the bike is equipped with.
These bikes are approved for street riding and for off-roading because they’re equipped with the proper safety features for highway riding, like turn signals, proper lighting and appropriate tires for driving on pavement.
RIDER SAFETY TIP: SIZE MATTERS
Make sure the bike isn’t too large or too small for you. Your knees shouldn’t touch the handlebars while you’re riding, and both of your feet should be able to stand firmly on the ground when the bike is not moving.
