Before Heading Out

Pack Your Tools

Keep a basic toolkit with you when riding trails. Your machine works hard to haul you around on rugged, unforgivable turf. So it makes sense that things will get bumped around and may loosen up or break down over time.

Some machines come with a basic tool kit from the manufacturer. If you’ve got one of these, dig around in it and get to know it. Make sure you have everything you may need in there. If you’re putting together a toolkit of your own, you’ll need the following items:

  • Spark plugs
  • Extra light bulbs
  • Tape
  • Wire
  • Mechanical tools:
    • Wrenches
    • Pliers
    • Screw drivers
    • Sockets/ socket wrench
    • Electrical tape
    • Flash light
    • Tire pressure gauge
    • Small pair of vice grips (these could really come in handy!)
