Module 03 - Trip Planning and Preparation

AQUATIC NUISANCE SPECIES (ANS)

Aquatic Nuisance Species are foreign aquatic plants, fish and invertebrates (mussels, snails, etc.) that are damaging to the environment and don’t naturally belong in U.S. waterways. To reduce the likelihood of spreading ANS, always clean your paddle craft before entering a new body of water. Simply scrape and wash off any plant life or residue from the hull with plain water or a non-phosphate detergent that will not harm the environment.
