MAPPING

Trail maps are a must. You‘ve got to know the path ahead and where those splits in the trail will take you. However, trail maps may not provide all the information you’ll need if you're lost or if the machine breaks down and you need to find your way back. You’ll want a topographic map for this.

Topographic maps provide a detailed map of the area, indicating trail systems, any roads in the area, changes in land elevation and the location and depth of bodies of water. In a survival situation, a topographic map would be your best friend, if you can read it. Figure it out before you go! It’s not complicated, just a little more detailed.
