Module 04 - Safe Boat Operation

Disembarking Your Boat

When you’re ready to get back on dry land, it’s important to know how to disembark your boat safely. Follow these steps to disembark your boat:

STEP 1:
Secure your boat to the dock, using a properly tied nautical knot.
STEP 2:
Shut down the boat’s motor. If you’re operating a PWC you should remove the engine shut-off cord. Never jump from the boat to the dock!
STEP 3:
Unload passengers (guests) one at a time. The operator should disembark first, and then help each passenger (guest). If you’re operating a PWC remember that the watercraft will become less stable as each passenger (guest) disembarks. PWC passengers (guests) should keep their weight evenly distributed to remain as stable as possible.
