Every time you buy a new firearm, ammunition or other hunting equipment , 11% of the purchase price goes to the federal government and then back to the Natural Resources Agency in your state to fund their wildlife conservation projects. This is known as the Pittman-Robertson Act, or the Federal Aid in Wildlife Restoration Act. Hunters provide almost $86 million a year for conservation efforts through this excise tax. Additionally, every time you buy a hunting or trapping license or tag, the money goes to your state’s natural resources agency to pay for wildlife management. 

Hunters are the number one source of financial support that benefits all wildlife species. They advocate and support legislation the protects wildlife resources, and help wildlife agencies with the management of some wildlife populations.

CO’s are out there to protect all the things we care about. You may never meet a conservation officer in the field but if you are approached, immediately point your firearm in a safe direction, unload it if requested to do so and follow any given instructions. Remember, their interests are your interests. So don’t freak out, just relax, be respectful and let them do their job.
