Module 14 - SURVIVAL

MAKING IT BURN

Carry waterproof, butane lighters in your survival kit. They are the absolute most reliable option for lighting your fire. You should also carry waterproof matches. In fact, pack a couple of both to be safe… or don’t pack them and try hitting rocks together to light your fire with sparks. Cavemen did it so it can’t be that hard, right? Wrong.

Cotton balls soaked in petroleum jelly will create a quick fire starter that will burn for at least a few minutes to help you get your fire going on its own. Just pop the lubed up cotton balls into a re-sealable plastic bag and throw it in your survival kit.
