GROUND BLIND LOGISTICS: ENTERING AND EXITING

Yep, there’s a safety procedure for entering or exiting a ground blind with a firearm in your hands. Here’s how it works:

How to Enter a Ground Blind With Your Firearm:

  1. Unload your firearm and engage the safety device.
  2. Place your firearm outside of the blind, with the muzzle pointed in a safe direction.
  3. Climb into the blind and then carefully retrieve your firearm while keeping the muzzle pointed in a safe direction.
  4. Once you've entered the ground blind, double check that the firearm is unloaded and that there isn’t any dirt or debris in the muzzle.

Wise Words: Hole Up

When you’re inside your ground blind and waiting for game, make sure you keep the windows on the backside of your blind closed. If you don’t,  the sun will shine through, illuminating the interior of your blind. Anything outside will be able to see what’s going on inside. So, hole up in there.

How to Exit a Ground Blind With Your Firearm:

  1. Simply repeat your entering steps in reverse! First, unload your firearm and engage the safety device.
  2. Place your firearm outside of the blind before climbing out, pointing the muzzle in a safe direction.
  3. Once you're outside, check the muzzle for any dirt or debris.

Wise Words: Zero Flame Tolerance

Never use a gas heater when you’re inside a ground blind. The unvented fumes that will accumulate could cause carbon monoxide poisoning. You should also never smoke or use an electric heater when inside a blind—think about it—you’ll be sitting in a small, closed space made entirely of flammable material.
