LIFE JACKET/PFD TYPES
The risk of capsizing heightens when you’re in a smaller boat or paddle craft. To stay safe, choose a brightly-colored, activity-appropriate life jacket that is Coast Guard-approved.
The Coast Guard has approved the following types of life jackets/PFDs:
- Type I
- Type II
- Type III
- Type IV throwable device
- Type V
